A Passion for Craft & Community

Tatte was born from a simple but profound desire: to create a tatte bakery that feels like home. Our founder, inspired by Mediterranean baking traditions and a deep love for wholesome, honest ingredients, opened the first Tatte café in 2014 in Washington, DC.

From that first location, we've grown into a beloved gathering place for the community — a spot where neighbors become friends over a perfect morning coffee and a freshly baked pastry. Every item on our menu is crafted from scratch each morning, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.

2014

The First Tatte Opens

Our founder opens the very first Tatte café on Wisconsin Ave NW in Washington, DC — a small, intimate space that quickly wins the hearts of the neighborhood with fresh-baked pastries and specialty coffee.

2016

Expanding the Bakery Menu

We launch our full tatte bakery menu — including signature shakshuka, hand-rolled croissants, and seasonal grain bowls. The expanded menu earns our first major press coverage and industry recognition.

2018

Multiple DC Locations

Demand for authentic tatte café experiences drives rapid expansion across Washington, DC. We open three new locations, each designed with the same warm, welcoming aesthetic our guests love.

Tzurit founded Tatte with a vision to bring Israeli-inspired baking traditions to Washington, DC. Her passion for honest food and genuine hospitality defines everything Tatte stands for.
